Hey ho! Sharon here, with an update on a magazine cover story I photographed of an inspirational lady. Inova is a US-based health and hospital service provider. Although based on the east coast of the USA, the Spring 2019 cover story of Inova’s INhealth medical & healthy lifestyle magazine was slated to feature Australian patient Dina McPherson. Dina was back in Melbourne following a successful surgical heart procedure in the US, and enguaged me…
“Sharon and Brence got the absolute best out of our staff and the locations they photographed. Our new corporate library is vibrant and stunning, showing the best that our company has to offer. They surpassed my expectations of the brief.” – Gemma Cajina, Design and Multimedia Specialist, Airservices Australia As commerical photographers, it’s SUPER exciting when you receive a client enquiry and the brief includes reference photos of air traffic control towers and firefighters battling…
Garden Beet‘s incredible plant installations take an office space from ‘nice’ to ‘Wow!’ They called on us to document a recent installation at a newly opened funky co-working office space in Melbourne. The main hallway features a unique potted plant display, and the casual workspace / chill out area infuses a wonderful sense of calm from the huge green wall. Here’s the final photos from the shoot day:
Image Workshop photographer Sharon Blance recently shot fresh industrial portraits for world-leading shipbuilding company Navantia Australia. Navantia believes in collaboration and partnership, and that people are the heart of their shipbuilding enterprise. The new “Partnership” print campaign features Aussie workers ‘behind the scenes’ who create the parts and technologies Navantia uses to build advanced ocean-going vessels. Sharon’s ‘at work’ industrial portraits were shot at one of Navantia’s engineering partners – SKF Engineering in Melbourne – using…
I shot these editorial style portraits a wee while ago and they’ve been waiting to finally get up on the blog! Environmental portrait photography of Elisha Kesici, who works as a Senior Pastry Chef at at one of Melbourne’s top restaurants – the unparalleled Vue de Monde. It was an absolute treat to photograph Elisha at work putting the final touches on one of the restaurant’s signature desserts: mousse lamingtons. We had an hour on site…
Recently I had a couple of free days up in Sydney. The weather was glorious, and after checking out some fabulous art at the Biennale and upgrading my knowledge of native birds at the Australian Museum, I wanted to spend some time just wandering the city centre, camera in hand. The Fujifilm X-T2 is my go-to travel camera – if you haven’t got one I simply can’t recommend it highly enough – and for this…
A day in the studio yielded a number of different promotional photography images for jazz chanteuse Georgia Brooks for promoting herself online and to jazz venues and talent bookers.
Meet Sam, Helper of People. He’s a Pharmacy Business Manager for AmCal as well as being a working paramedic – oh and he also did volunteer help during the Victorian bushfires last summer. Sharon was commisioned to shoot an editorial portrait of Sam for the October cover of PostScript magazine – here’s the final cover shot, plus an image that didn’t make the mag but was one of our faves :D
Image Workshop photographer Sharon Blance absolutely loves all forms of show biz, and one of her favourite assignments is to create promo photography for performers of all kinds. So she was pretty delighted to work with dance and cabaret artist Sarah James – stage name Shortie Georgia – to create some fresh promo images. Sarah is a dance champion in her home country New Zealand, where she also runs a dance school teaching 1920s-1940s styles. If…
I have a lot of fantasy photos in my head. Pictures I dream of making, stemming from various personal motivations. Generally these ideas stay in the realm of fantasy and aren’t actually executed because of unwieldy logistics, budget or other boring life-in-the-real world constraints. For example, the ‘ode-to-Tesla’ image I’ve had rattling around in my brain for a few years now involves, among other things, a Nikola Tesla look-alike, a live pigeon and a room-sized…
