We’re thrilled to announce that Image Workshop photographer Brence Coghill has been awarded Silver in the Advertising category of the 2019 PX3 Paris Photography Prize for his wet plate collodion image of eclectic Americana and alt-country singer-songwriter Rich Webb. The image was selected by a jury panel from over 5,700 entries from 98 countries around the world. The PX3 awards are one of the biggest photography awards in Europe with thousands of entrants from all…
It started with a call from Garden Beet, one of Australia’s premium vertical garden designers for residential and commercial fitouts. They’d completed a vertical green wall installation for Telstra at Highpoint, but were having trouble getting a good photo of it for their web & print marketing. In fact they’d already sent another photographer to shoot the wall, but were unhappy with the results. Could Image Workshop do better? (spoiler alert… the answer is ‘hell yeah!’)
Image Workshop photographer Sharon Blance recently shot fresh industrial portraits for world-leading shipbuilding company Navantia Australia. Navantia believes in collaboration and partnership, and that people are the heart of their shipbuilding enterprise. The new “Partnership” print campaign features Aussie workers ‘behind the scenes’ who create the parts and technologies Navantia uses to build advanced ocean-going vessels. Sharon’s ‘at work’ industrial portraits were shot at one of Navantia’s engineering partners – SKF Engineering in Melbourne – using…
Did somebody say… outdoor party? We created a collection of lifestyle photography for DrinkWise, an Australian not-for-profit whose remit is to promote healthier and safer drinking culture (and let’s face it, Australia doesn’t have the best reputation for responsible drinking). DrinkWise isn’t about trying to get people to ‘not drink’, but is about making healthier choices – the vibe being that you can still have fun and be social while being responsible. Images were shot…
Shooting environmental portraits – pictures of people on location, in context of who they are and what they do – is one of our favourite types of photography. So naturally we love photographing graduate profiles for Melbourne-based training provider William Angliss Institute.
Sometimes the advertising photography we’re called on to do is less about being ‘visually creative’ and more of a technical and ingenuity challenge – like translating an artwork housed in a tiny garage into Melbourne’s largest billboard. The Southern Cross Austereo radio network had a cunning idea for promoting Triple M radio station – commission Melbourne’s most notorious street artist HAHA to create a custom artwork and put it on the largest billboard in the…
Wowzers – 2015 has kicked off with a huge start for us, and we can’t believe that it’s March already and we’ve been slow to post up details about some of the cool stuff we’ve been up to. We’re stoked to have been involved in an advertising campaign run by VISA China over the summer to encourage Chinese tourists to come and experience Melbourne (using their VISA card, of course!) and discover the city’s various attractions, both ‘iconic’ and ‘off the beaten path’….
We were on an Air New Zealand flight recently to spend Christmas Day at Brence’s brother’s house near Napier (Art Deco capital of the world and home to a surprisingly good aquarium) when we spotted some of our work in the inflight magazine.
