Damaged Duo – promotional images for circo-arts performers

Circo-arts performers Mim and Neisha – who go by the moniker The Damaged Duo – wanted new promo photos reflecting their motto “To entertain and infuriate”. Their work is character-driven, using facial expression to create a mood and add humor. The photos needed to show off their physical skills as well as capture facial expressions and their quirky sense of humour.

We scouted a suitable warehouse that met technical requirements: a large indoor space with a minimum 7 metre high ceiling, including a beam we could rig from rated to a 2.5-tonne load. Multiple setups were executed including a mini portrait studio to capture static character promo shots in hair & makeup before each act.

Brence’s lighting design for the aerial acts used cross-lighting to highlight the shape of each pose and add drama, coupled with a soft fill so that the all-important facial expressions were visible.

Check out the BTS video of the warehouse photoshoot on our Motion page :)

“We were so impressed with the high artistic standard and comfortable working environment Image Workshop created for us while doing our shoot. They provided us with such amazing professionalism, not to mention completely stunning photographs that we are extremely happy with.”
